Members of the Association enjoyed a splendid carvery lunch at The Park Hotel on Thursday 11 th December.   There was Turkey & Beef with all the trimmings, plus puddings galore.  The dining room was full of groups enjoying the same hospitality and it made for a very festive time.

Thank you for your support over the past 12 months.

Note from our Vice Chair – Sir Richard Peek

The Conservative Political Forum group is made up of half a dozen members or so and meet about four or five times a year at the Barnstaple Conservative Club. We discuss a wide range of topics as sent down from Party HQ and which often form the basis of future policy. In July, we had an interesting paper to consider on the subject of the Olympics. We were asked on how we thought the Games would affect us here at the time and in the future, with the thought that there might be a legacy of more participation in sport. It was actually one of the more difficult topics we have had to discuss as there were mixed opinions as to whether we would be affected at all! This is just an example of the subjects that we discuss and I would encourage more to come along and join in. Contact the Association office if you would like to be notified of the next meeting.

On a different note, Philip Milton has been campaigning on the subject of the Boundary Committee's recommendation that there should be one Unitary Authority for Devon except for the current Authorities that exist. He is working with the District Councillors to put forward objections to the move as it is seen locally to be too large. If you wish to contact him he has put out a pro forma letter to make the points necessary to get the Committee to reconsider. He can be contacted on 01271 344300 or by email at philipmilton@philipmilton.co.uk

He has put together a campaign team but there is a lot to do and he would appreciate offers of help in his campaigning especially in delivering literature.
