Dear Friends
2010 is destined to be a Year of Change – and whilst we may not be
able to predict all that will happen we know that it is now just
over 80 days until the 6 th of May which is considered by most to
be the likely date of the General Election. People may have
travelled around the world in eighty days but the challenges of
organising an Election Campaign in North Devon needs just as much
careful planning in order to ensure that we meet with as many of
you as possible over the next few months. Whilst modern forms
of communication are a wonderful way of keeping in contact and I
am always pleased to hear from people by email, telephone or even
by good old fashioned letters, it is also good to meet folk face
to face and hear what their concerns are.
Obviously I hope to get out and about as much
as I can but I shall also have to rely on my team of helpers
to bring back some of your concerns to me. I would also be delighted to hear from anyone
who would be able to help in this regard and join my canvassing
team. Whether you prefer talking to people, recording information
or just putting leaflets through doors, your support will be really
appreciated, however much or little you are able to do.
In addition we shall require financial support
and if you are able to assist either by helping with fund raising
or by making a contribution to the fighting fund , it will
be put to good use in seeking to follow on from our success
in the last year ' s Council Elections and improving on the
good work that they have started. With
the Conservative Party needing an additional 117 seats in order
to gain a majority of even one it is vital that we play our part
by electing a Conservative Member of Parliament for North Devon
and bringing David Cameron's chance to form a new Conservative Government
one step closer.
“Conservative Future” for North Devon
Conservative Future is the largest youth political organisation in
the UK. It is the movement for under 30s that is all about involving
young people in politics and addressing the issues that matter to
them.
“Rarely has the Country needed change as badly as it does now. Given
the scale of the challenge we face, we need every hand to the pump.
That means everyone who shares the views of the modern Conservative
Party should be getting involved. There's a vital role to play for
everyone.” (David Cameron)
With this in mind we are holding a launch party
for a new North Devon Branch of Conservative Future at Trimstone
Manor Country House Hotel on Tuesday 23 February from 7pm. So if you, or someone
you know, is under thirty, votes here in North Devon and would like
to get involved , we would be delighted to hear from them. Please
note that whilst there is no charge for the event , entry is by
ticket only. To request tickets please telephone 01271 343101
or email mailto:philipmilton@philipmilton.co.uk .
And finally an advert – but for a very
good cause
It is with tremendous pleasure that we announce
that Tyme Restaurant at
Trimstone is once again taking part in the fabulous North Devon
Hospice ‘Big Breakfast' event. We invite you to join us for FREE
breakfast on Saturday 27 March between 8.00am and noon. It
is hoped that ‘happy eaters' will then give generously in lieu of
a charge for their breakfast thus raising much needed funds to ensure
that the Hospice can continue to provide specialist care for the
next 25 years and beyond. For further information and to reserve
your places, please contact us on 01271 868050. I don't mind if
we fill the seats with Conservatives but promise all parties will
be welcome so do tell your friends!
My very best wishes

Philip J Milton
Prospective Member of Parliament for North Devon
